About ADVANCE BATON ROUGE

ADVANCE BATON ROUGE is a nonprofit which was formed in spring 2005 by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, and 100 Black Men of Metro Baton Rouge, Inc., to address the area’s educational inequities and low achievement rates.

To turn around the state of public education, we believe we need entrepreneurial leaders to transform our schools into social enterprises – organizations that:

  • Advance a mission of maximizing student outcomes
  • Generate and share knowledge
  • Create social value
  • Use earned income strategies to achieve self-sustainability

How do we achieve this?

  • Redesign our schools so that they have the autonomy to make decisions on-site that affect student achievement
  • Train and support leaders who are constantly innovating
  • Build capacity by distributing leadership that empowers all stakeholders.
